How to add monitoring to your OSS resources

OSS has gradually become the core storage component of everyone's applications and services. This article will introduce how to monitor and alarm the usage and status of OSS resources through the simple configuration of cloud monitoring.

Log in to the Alibaba Cloud console and confirm that the OSS service has been activated

  1. Enter the cloud monitoring console
Click [Products and Services] in the upper left corner of the console page, and then click [Cloud Monitoring] on the product list page, as shown in the following figure:

  1. Enter OSS cloud service monitoring
Click [Cloud Service Monitoring] in the middle part of the left column of the Cloud Monitoring Console, and then click [Object Storage OSS] in the displayed drop-down bar, as shown in the following figure:

After entering the OSS cloud service monitoring page above, the relevant monitoring data is displayed more intuitively. You can simply explore and find the indicators that interest you.
PS: The "user level" refers to user-level data, that is, the aggregation of data of all buckets under the user.

  1. Create alarm rules
When you explore the OSS cloud service monitoring page, you should be able to find the entry of the alarm rule configuration, click to enter, as shown in the following figure:

Enter the [Alarm Rule] management page, click [Create Alarm Rule] in the upper right corner, as shown below:

Configure the alarm notification method and notification personnel, as shown in the figure below:

If you have not configured a contact group before, you need to create a contact group first, and click [Quickly create a contact group], as shown in the figure below:

If you haven't configured a contact before, you need to create a contact first, and click [New Contact], as shown in the figure below:

  1. Alarm test
After all the above configurations are completed, an alarm rule configuration is completed. You can use the test data to tease this rule, and then confirm whether you can successfully receive the alarm information (email, SMS, Want, Dingding, etc.)

  1. Create monitoring market
If you want to customize some OSS resource monitoring graphs, you can implement it through the [Dashboard] function of Cloud Monitoring. Click [Dashboard] in the left column, and then [Create Monitoring Market] in the upper right corner, as shown in the figure below:

Click [Add Chart] in the upper right corner of the monitoring market page, as shown below

Follow the instructions in the figure below to configure the chart
After configuration, click [Publish]
